Events: Go-Green – the opportunity to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Citizens Bank and Trust Co., 1100 N. Commerce will be the location for Ardmore’s Go-Green events scheduled the week of March 17, 2010. Citizens Bank, Ardmore Beautification Council and the Chickasaw Nation are joining together to provide local residents an easy way to get rid of unwanted items.

The File Thirteen shred truck will be on site, Wednesday, March 17, 2010, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., to assist citizens with a convenient way to get rid of confidential papers, old checks, tax records, etc. There is a limit of 3 boxes per household.

The Chickasaw Nation’s ReUse Roadshow trailer will be located at the south side of Citizens Bank March 17, March 18, and March 19, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Volunteers will be available to assist people in getting items removed from their vehicles. Acceptability of all items will be based on condition and inventory. Items to be accepted include home goods; building materials; pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers; computers and monitors (less than 5-years old and in good working condition), etc. For a complete list of what will be accepted go to the Chickasaw Reuse Center Product Acceptance List.

Nancy Sjulin, Citizens Bank representative said, “We think this event will be very successful. People are looking for ways to get rid of what they no longer can use and the Go-Green event will provide a way to recycle many of the items they want to eliminate from their lives.”

Go-Green is a part of the Great American Cleanup, locally coordinated by the Ardmore Beautification Council, through Keep America Beautiful. Organizations such as the ABC participate in projects to improve and cleanup their communities during the Great American Cleanup. In 2009 more than 3 million were involved in this effort.

Refrigerator magnets listing where items can be recycled will be handed out at the event. For more information about the Go-Green event or other projects being planned locally for the Great American Cleanup you may contact the ABC office 223-2230.
