Ardmore Tree Board: Neighborwoods Tree Species



Chinese pistache

Medium-sized tree about 30 to 45 feet high, with a spread of 25 to 35 feet. Known for its brilliant fall color.





Water oak

Large-sized tree about 70 feet high with a spread of 80 feet wide and a rounded crown.





Bald Cypress

Medium to large-sized tree, between 60-90 feet high; deciduous, cone-bearing tree. Enlarged and buttressed at base, often angled and with cone-shaped "knees" from submerged roots.




Red bud

Small to medium sized tree, about 35 feet high with a short trunk 10 inches in diameter and rounded crown of spreading branches and shiny green leaves. Showy blooms in early spring before leaves appear.




Sugar maple

Large tree, about 80 feet high and 2 feet in diameter, with spreading dense crown.





Shumard oak

Medium-sized to large tree 80 feet high with straight trunk and broad round crown; width can be 50 feet in diameter..





Dogwood

Small sized to tree, about 25 feet high with irregular crown of spreading or nearly horizontal branches.





Japanese maple

Maximum height of 20 feet with spead of 20 feet. Broad, mound-like small tree or large shrub. Partial shade to shade.
